Dreyfuss, considered a brilliant industrial designer, worked with Bell Telephone Laboratories designing telephones that were sensitive to consumers' desire to suit a variety of home environments. Well known for the 302 style Desk Phone, he later shifted his design efforts to include this wall unit allowing consumers to walk with the phone while cradling it on their shoulder. This unified and balanced form replaced the awkward and ungainly shapes of earlier models. Would you believe Dreyfuss actually used measurements from over 2000 faces to determine the average distance between the mouth and ear? Its better than the earlier wall phone that we bought from Amazon. The design of the headset is such that you can't "Cradle" it between your shoulder and your ear, i.e. It was terrible and that's why we replaced it withvthis one, again from Amazon. We seem to get static on the line from this phone at some times. Hands free. Looks fine.
Love this phone.the ring is "old fashioned" too.handset heavy.I wish the actual body was a bit heavier, it wobbles a bit when we dial, but otherwise I love it.
I like the sound of the bell when the phone rings. This phone is perfect for my kitchen. It matches my decor perfectly. The volume control for the handset works for HOH people such as my husband. It is surely an eye catcher.

Got this one to replace one that I had from pottery barn that died. This one is matte black rather than shiny and is really cute. It feels really sturdy, but there was slight static on the line when walking around the room.
